BREAKING GROUND

BREAKING GROUND

The first phase of my installation begins with the tractor digging the footing that will anchor the sculpture. Even after years in public art, each project introduces new tools, new technologies and new collaborations that deepen my practice and sharpen my professionalism. Working alongside my crew, engineers and equipment operators reminded me how dynamic this field truly is. Public art isn’t static, it requires an ongoing engagement with industries that evolve constantly. With every project, I take on fresh technical considerations-soil stability, structural requirements, machinery coordination-and each one expands the scope of what I do. Watching the first trench open in the ground felt symbolic- a literal foundation for the sculpture and a reminder that with every new challenge, I build a stronger foundation in my own career as well. Growth, professionalism and curiosity move in tandem and this project is already proving that once again.
