LOCATION, LOCATION

Choosing the exact location for a sculpture is more than a practical decision, it is about identifying a focal point where the work will both anchor the space and invite community in. It also means coming into scale with the building and the existing traffic lights and utility poles.

To get a larger picture, I walked across Congress  street to El Mercado district (lively, historic site with a public market and annex) and while there also made note of the trolley path. Working with Yanet Vega, lead architect at El Rio, we finalized the exact location at the main intersection of Congress Street and Avenida del Convento.  It  had perfect vantage points from all directions!
