In the same studio where I build sculpture, I now construct contemporary jewelry. My approach to jewelry making may be described as “active” since the work is engineered, sliced, folded, tethered and cold-constructed. The physical act of manipulating materials establishes a push and pull within the composition. This scenario moves past ornamentation and forges a dialogue about how the work occupies space.
